In the past couple of months twitter came up with a lot of new features to enhance twitter’s experience on their web based Client and one of them was this java-script info popup (thank you Syed you saved my life *hugz* ) feature called « hovercards » where you just need to « Hover » the cursor of your mouse on any tweeple name and a small window pops up with some details. My friend @Askaaronlee Wrote a beautiful complete post about it here -> hovercards twitter best feature yet.
Now Facebook came up in April with the same Feature!! (pic) It was a simplistic version of what we have now. And it only makes me think about how far will go facebook without twitter’s new features actually. Facebook was lunched way before twitter but it seems like Twitter is taking over in the innovation’s field.

This post will be updated with more thoughts about how facebook is literally using whatever twitter comes up with.
to Facebook.
Update: From Ivan

The bottom line is, Facebook is getting scared of Twitter… So they eventually would like to add all common twitter functionality on the Facebook social engineering platform.

@IvanThank you for the Update, As an Avid Active Facebook user, I thought it was only today.
( thank you, need to really reconnect with facebook now.
juin 30th, 2010 at 10 h 12 min@ruhanirabin That’s what am saying, will definitely expand on this soon.

I disagree.
not because a chameleon can change its colour will turn into a rainbow.
New functionalities are made to make user’s life easier. If you are happy you will stay there, there’s no conspiracy on this. If someone has a good idea, why you can’t do the same?
have a nice day.
PS: I don’t like FB anyway

@PatricioI do agree with you Patricio, but isnt it obvious that Facebook is running way behind twitter when it comes to features and « making user’s life easier »?
juin 30th, 2010 at 10 h 20 minThank you for your comment buddy.

that’s true @Barrick @M.gold
it remembers me a little to IBM’ s case.. too big to move forward as fast as their competitors. A big white elephant.
Facebook is overloaded with too many things that sometimes you can miss why you are there… to keep in touch with your friends and let them know how you are/were feeling in a timeline. Twitter mastered this.

@PatricioThat’s why Facebook is the best tool around for Companies now. They can promote easily their products via the LIKE PAGES, twitter mastered the what are you doing, then shifted to What’s happening. See? Social medias are all turning to the benefits of companies, and a small part for the Privates.

@barrick yep, you are right. FB is being the best tool for companies… but it makes me think twice and be concerned whether this-so-good-thing is also good for us as simple mortals/users
I mean, just letting my mind fly and think in what all this social media phenomenom can develop (*).
About FB just think, you are just a middle user and you want to be in touch with your family spreaded all over the world:
– hey! my cousin has new photos
– let’s see them
– photo, photo, photo, commercial, photo, photo, commercial2, photo, and so on.
Or maybe ads bigger than the space for us.
maybe I’m just overreacting, maybe i didn’t get enough coffeine
but as you said, it is good for companies but up to which point, if I’m not interested at all on such intromissions? I just say, we should keep an eye on this social media phenomenom and don’t let it go beyond us. It must exists a healthy balance between Services (companies) and its market (Us). Feeding and give some info back to that feed..ooh wait a minute, I just remembered an ‘old’ word for that: feedback!! FB should not forget to hear us
(*)The mall scene in Minority Report is terrifying, isn’t it?

Damn !! I just forgot ‘FACEBOOK’. I don’t remember the last time I logged into it. Thanks for updating about the changes. It;s just that I have been so lost in work and twitter that facebook’ing has came to a complete hault. Facebook should become more innovative and come out with new features if they gotta catch me on FB
Great Post !! Cheers !!
